Your Guide to Renting a Car in Solin
Solin is a town of great historical significance situated at the foot of the Mosor mountain range, just 5 km northeast of Split at the source of the crystal-clear Jadro River. In Roman times, Solin was known as Salonae — the capital of the Roman province of Dalmatia and one of the largest cities in the entire Roman Empire, with a population that once exceeded 60,000 people. Today, the extensive ruins of ancient Salona are among Croatia's most important archaeological sites and a UNESCO World Heritage candidate.
Our Avax meet-and-greet service in Solin provides convenient car pickup for guests staying in the area or arriving via the Split region without going into the city centre. The town is strategically located near the A1 motorway entrance, making it an ideal collection point for guests travelling by bus or train who want to continue their journey by car.
Beyond its ancient heritage, Solin has the natural advantage of the Jadro River, whose clear spring water has supplied Split with drinking water since Roman times. The riverside park offers pleasant walks, and the medieval Klis Fortress dramatically overlooks the town from a rocky ridge just 4 km away. The town centre has good supermarkets, fuel stations, and restaurants, making it a practical base for exploring central Dalmatia.
