Your Guide to Renting a Car in Split City Centre
Our Split Downtown office is located at Obala Lazareta 3, right along the waterfront promenade (Riva) just steps from Diocletian's Palace — the 1,700-year-old Roman palace that is the beating heart of Split and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The office is a 5-minute walk from the main Ferry Terminal (Trajektna luka), within easy reach of the bus station, and surrounded by the city's central hotels and apartments.
Split is Croatia's second-largest city and the undisputed capital of Dalmatia. The city has grown around and within the walls of Diocletian's Palace, a Roman emperor's retirement home built in the 4th century that remains one of the best-preserved Roman structures anywhere in the world. The palace basement, the Peristyle courtyard, and the Cathedral of St. Domnius (converted from Diocletian's mausoleum) are extraordinary. Beyond the palace, the lively Riva promenade, Marjan Hill's forest park, and the Varos old neighbourhood reward explorers.
The proximity to Trajektna luka makes our Split Downtown office the ideal choice for travellers arriving by ferry from the islands of Brac, Hvar, Solta, or Vis — you can pick up your car the moment you step off the boat and head straight inland or along the coast. If you are staying at a hotel or apartment in the centre, we also offer vehicle delivery directly to your address (additional fee applies — contact us when booking to arrange).
With a rental car from our Split Downtown office, the entire Dalmatian coast is at your fingertips. The Cetina River canyon and adventure town of Omis is 30 minutes south. The Makarska Riviera, with some of Croatia's best pebble beaches beneath the Biokovo mountain, is an hour away. Head north to Sibenik and the Krka waterfalls, or drive the scenic coastal road south all the way to Dubrovnik — one of the most popular one-way routes in Croatia.
Nearby Attractions
Diocletian's Palace
The beating heart of Split: a 1,700-year-old Roman palace that has been continuously inhabited since its construction. Explore the underground cellars, the Peristyle square, the Temple of Jupiter, and dozens of restaurants and shops within its ancient walls.
Marjan Hill
A forested peninsula on the western edge of Split, perfect for hiking, cycling, and swimming. Climb to the Vidilica viewpoint for a panoramic view of Split, the islands, and the Dinaric Alps, or visit the small 15th-century chapels nestled in the forest.
Cetina River Canyon, Omis
A dramatic river canyon offering white-water rafting, zip-lining over the gorge, and rock climbing on the cliffs of Omis. The canyon drive from Omis inland to Zadvarje waterfall is one of Croatia's most scenic routes.
Makarska Riviera
A stunning 60 km stretch of coast backed by the towering Biokovo mountain, featuring crystal-clear waters, white pebble beaches, and the famous Biokovo Skywalk glass platform at 1,228 metres above sea level.
Driving Tips
Split city centre has limited and expensive parking. The best options near our office are the Obala Lazareta street parking or the Sukoisan open-air lot east of the ferry port. For Marjan Hill, park at the Sustipan parking area at the base of the peninsula. When leaving Split for the motorway, follow signs for 'A1' via the Dugopolje interchange. Avoid driving through the Varos neighbourhood as streets are extremely narrow and not suitable for cars.
Our Split office is well-connected to local neighbourhoods including Bačvice, Meje, Gripe, Spinut, Žnjan, Mejaši, making it easy to reach your accommodation or explore the city and its surroundings.
