Your Guide to Renting a Car at Stobrec
Stobre č is a charming coastal village situated just 7 km southeast of Split, on a small peninsula with a long sandy beach, shallow clear water, and a relaxed atmosphere that contrasts pleasantly with the busy city nearby. Known in antiquity as Epetion, the village has one of the few sandy beaches in the Split area, making it a favourite summer escape for locals and a peaceful base for visitors who prefer a quieter setting than central Split.

From Stobrec, you are ideally positioned to explore southern Dalmatia — the town of Omiš and its dramatic Cetina River canyon is just 23 km south, while Makarska and its famous pebble beaches are under an hour away.
The village has a beautiful small harbour, fresh fish restaurants overlooking the water, and a relaxed promenade perfect for evening walks. Despite its small size, Stobrec has excellent transport links: the D8 coastal road provides easy access to Split in one direction and Omiš in the other, and the A1 motorway is reachable within 15 minutes via the D8.

One of the few sandy beaches near Split, set on a sheltered bay with shallow, calm water ideal for families. The beach is backed by a promenade with cafes and restaurants.
Split Old Town
The UNESCO-listed Diocletian's Palace and Split's vibrant city centre, just 7 km along the coastal road. Home to the Cathedral of St. Domnius, the Riva promenade, and excellent nightlife.
Cetina River Canyon, Omiš
A dramatic river gorge ideal for white-water rafting, zip-lining, and hiking. The canyon is carved through limestone mountains and the town of Omiš at its mouth is one of Dalmatia's most scenic.
Šolta Island
A tranquil island less than an hour by ferry from Split, known for honey, olive oil, lavender, and uncrowded beaches. The village of Stomorska has an authentic, unhurried character.
Kjøre Tips
The coastal D8 road connecting Stobrec to Split passes through several roundabouts and can be slow in summer mornings (8–10 AM). If you are heading to Split city centre, the tram-like coastal road is fine; for the motorway or destinations further north or south, use the signed A1 motorway entrance at Dugopolje (15 minutes inland). Free street parking is available throughout Stobrec. Avoid parking on the narrow streets closest to the beach in peak season.
