Yes. Every Avax rental car is pre-authorised for ferry transport on all Croatian vehicle ferries (Jadrolinija, Krilo, and others) at no extra cost. Ferry permission and island insurance validity are included in every rental — there is no permit fee, no surcharge, and no paperwork to fill in. You simply buy your vehicle ticket from the ferry operator and drive on board.
No. Avax includes the ferry permit (FIT — Free Independent Travel, section 8.1 of our terms) in every rental. You do not need to request it, sign anything extra, or pay a per-day surcharge. Just present your booking voucher if a desk agent asks.
Yes. Whichever insurance package you chose (Start, Medium, Premium, or Full Cover) remains valid on every Croatian island. Cover does not lapse when you board a ferry.
The guest pays the ferry ticket directly to the operator (Jadrolinija, Krilo, etc.). Avax covers only the vehicle authorisation. Vehicle ticket prices depend on car length — compact cars under 5 m qualify for the cheapest tariff. Book at jadrolinija.hr, krilo.hr, or buy at the port.
Any Croatian island served by a vehicle ferry — Hvar, Brač, Korčula, Vis, Pag, Rab, Cres, Lošinj, Krk, Mljet, Šolta, Ugljan, Pašman, Dugi Otok and more. Pag, Krk, and Čiovo are connected by bridge (no ferry). Plan ferry slots in advance during summer (June–September) — popular crossings sell out.
Yes. We have Meet & Greet drop-off at several ferry ports including Vela Luka (Korčula), Korčula Town/Dominče, Dubrovnik Port Gruž, and Hotel Plaza Duće. A premium-location service fee applies for Meet & Greet ports. One-way drops are also possible between ferry-port and city/airport offices.
Yes. One-way island-to-mainland rentals are available, e.g. pick up at Vela Luka ferry ramp on Korčula, return at Split airport. A one-way fee applies based on distance and route. Confirm the price during booking.

No tier covers: interior damage, lost personal belongings, lost keys or documents, driving under the influence, unauthorised drivers, driving on unclassified or off-road tracks, or wilful negligence. Wrong-fuel refills are charged at full repair cost.

Optional extras (insurance upgrade, child seat, GPS, additional driver, cross-border permit, no-credit-card fee) are itemised before you confirm. The only charges that may appear later are guest-caused: missing fuel, traffic fines, after-hours pickup, late return, or damage above your insurance excess.
No. Unlimited mileage is included with every rental in Croatia.

At the four major airports — Split (SPU), Dubrovnik (DBV), Zagreb (ZAG), Zadar (ZAD) — and at city offices and ferry-port Meet & Greet locations across Croatia. Airport counters are inside or right next to the arrivals terminal. Meet & Greet delivery is available to your hotel, Airbnb, marina, or any address for an additional fee.
No problem. Provide your flight number when booking and we monitor arrivals — pickup time is adjusted automatically at no extra charge if the flight is delayed.

Yes. One-way rentals are available between most Croatian locations — airport-to-airport, city-to-airport, mainland-to-island, and back. A one-way fee applies and varies by route.
A driver brings the car to your chosen address — hotel, Airbnb, ferry port, marina, or villa — and meets you in person to hand over the keys. Available at a small additional fee. Specify the exact address and a phone number when booking so the agent can coordinate arrival.
Full-to-full: you receive the car with a full tank and return it with a full tank. Missing fuel is charged at the current pump rate plus a refuelling service fee. Wrong fuel type triggers full repair cost.
Call our 24/7 support line immediately. If another vehicle is involved, file a police report at the scene. Do not admit liability. Complete an accident report form. Your financial liability depends on your insurance tier — Premium or Full Cover means zero excess.
Report to the police immediately and obtain a written report. Contact Avax 24/7 support. Hand over all vehicle documents and the keys to the police and to us — without them, theft cover is void.
Traffic fines, parking tickets, and toll charges incurred during the rental are the renter's responsibility. If a fine reaches us after return, we forward it to you together with an administrative processing fee.
Smoking is prohibited in all Avax vehicles — a cleaning fee applies if breached. Pets are allowed if transported in a carrier or on a protective seat cover; an additional cleaning fee may apply if the car needs deep cleaning on return.
No. The vehicle may not be driven on unclassified roads, off-road tracks, beaches, or river beds. Damage caused on such surfaces is not covered by any insurance tier.
