Gruž Port is Dubrovnik's main ferry and cruise ship terminal, located approximately 3 km northwest of the Old Town in a large natural harbour. It is the departure point for Jadrolinija ferries to the Elafiti Islands (Koločep, Lopud, and Šipan) and for the long-distance coastal ferry route connecting Dubrovnik to Split, Zadar, and Rijeka. During peak season, Gruž welcomes hundreds of cruise ships and is one of the busiest ports in the eastern Adriatic.
Our Avax meet-and-greet service at Gruž Port is ideal for travellers arriving by overnight ferry who want to collect a car immediately upon docking, or for guests staying in the Lapad or Gruž neighbourhoods who prefer not to travel to our Dubrovnik Downtown office. Your car is brought directly to the agreed meeting point near the port entrance.
The Gruž area has a vibrant local market (every morning except Sunday), an excellent fresh fish market, and a long promenade lined with cafes and restaurants that is far less crowded than the Old Town. From here, you can easily reach the Lapad peninsula beaches (2 km), Dubrovnik Old Town (3 km by car or scenic 30-minute walk), and the coastal road south towards Cavtat and the Montenegro border.

Dubrovnik Oude Stad
De UNESCO-gelisteerde middeleeuwse ommuurde stad, slechts 3 km van Gruž Port via de D8. Ga naar binnen via de Pile Gate, wandel over de Stradun kalkstenen promenade, klim op de stadsmuren en bezoek het Rector's Palace uit de 16e eeuw.
Elafiti-eilanden
Drie rustige bewoonde eilanden (Koločep, Lopud en Šipan) bereikbaar met de Jadrolinija veerboot vanaf Gruž Port. Bekend om hun autovrije straten, zandstranden en buitengewone natuurlijke rust vergeleken met het Dubrovnik vasteland.
Lapad-schiereiland
Een woon- en toeristengebied ten westen van Gruž, met een aangename promenade, het langste strand in het Dubrovnik-gebied (Uvala Lapad), en enkele van de beste-waarde hotels en restaurants van de stad.

Driving Tips
De weg van Gruž Port naar Dubrovnik Old Town (D8) is in de zomer zwaar belast, vooral tussen 9 uur 's ochtends en het middaguur wanneer passagiers van cruiseschepen met shuttlebussen worden vervoerd. Verlaat het Gruž-gebied vóór 9 uur 's ochtends of na 18 uur als u naar de Old Town rijdt. Parkeren in de ondergrondse garage van Gruž is een van de betere opties voor een bezoek aan de Old Town — het is overdekt, beveiligd en verbonden met bus (lijn 1A/1B) naar de Pile Gate. Als u zuidwaarts langs de kust rijdt, is de weg naar Cavtat en Montenegro rustiger.
